The Encyclopaedia Britannica (Fourteenth Edition, Vol. 12)

The lithograph features, in its original language, the definition of the noun “infinity”, taken from the fourteenth edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica. In analogy with the linguistic concept that is reproduced here, the artist imagined an unlimited edition: the number of editions is followed by the symbol for infinity, and the date, begun in 1971, extends in an indefinite time (hence the different dates for the various editions, signed and dated over the course of the years).
