“My love for painting has grown enormously in the last few years. This photograph was inspired by many modern
and contemporary works.

I am not a painter, and as a photographer I am seeking new links between my medium and more painterly ones. I
constructed this image with unusual patience, and lots of trials using color making tape that to my surprise comes as thin as an 1/8th inch. I made this instinctively without much of a plan other than that I wanted to create a bunch of somewhat straight color stripes forming a shape. When I was done I sprayed white paint on the outer edges to create my rectangle. The lighting here is crucial as I wanted to show the physicality and the reality of the material as only photography can render.”
