Sweet Dreams

SWEET DREAMS is one of a 2012 series which makes a stab at abstraction. The letters are stacked on top of each other instead of arranged linearly. The two rules that apply to this series are the following: the word or phrase has to begin and end with the same letter, creating an objet to be seen rather than a word to be read. The second rule is that the meaning of the phrase must refer in some way to its scrambled and illegible appearance. Thus SWEET DREAMS, with its chaotic, fragmented mosaic of color, created by the outlined overlapping letters s-w-e-e-t d-r-e-a-m-s, does indeed suggest the surreality of a dream.
