Unexpected Variable Configurations: A Work in Situ
The entire wall is to be painted with matte latex in the unique color indicated on the certificate. On this surface, a grid of 43.5 x 43.5 cm is to be drawn; incomplete squares may appear at the right and bottom of the wall. The grid is drawn with a black permanent marker or an oil stick 5 mm thick. If the wall has a door, window, or any other obstacle(s), the grid is to be executed leaving those elements uncovered. The work cannot be installed if there is not enough room for at least 36 complete squares on the wall. The 25 aluminum plates should be placed with stripes oriented vertically on the squares of the grid in a configuration that maintains an overall pattern of alternating graphite gray and white stripes. The 13 plates with three graphite stripes should be placed in the odd-numbered columns, and the 12 plates with two graphite stripes should be placed in the even-numbered columns.
