Crossroads

February 17, 2018 – March 24, 2018

Featuring works by

John Baldessari, Robert Rauschenberg, Kay Rosen, Alicia Mihai Gazcue, Ed Ruscha, Lorna Simpson, Kara Walker, and Suara Welitoff

“Crossroads” engages cinematic and/or fabricated imagery from eight distinct perspectives.  There’s found imagery juxtapositions (Robert Rauschenberg, Kara Walker), text with cropped images (John Baldessari, Lorna Simpson), altered found footage/text (Kay Rosen and Suara Welitoff) and then fully fabricated imagery that, either through seriality or presentation, gives context to the imagery depicted (Ed Ruscha and Alicia Mihai Gazcue).  The artists all come different places and their imagery and techniques vary widely, but the exhibition provides the opportunity to examine more deeply each artist’s approach, all the while providing for positive, tension-filled dialogues between works.
