Reading

September 8, 2012 – October 13, 2012

Exhibition View

Barbara Krakow Gallery is pleased to present READING. The exhibition pairs works from André Kertész’s “On Reading” series (photographs of people reading that were taken between 1915 and 1970) with Ed Ruscha’s text series “That is Right” (consisting of positive texts layed out on fields of foreboding shadows).  In addition, we will be showcasing Art Resources Transfer’s recent series of books that consist of dialogues between artists such as  John Baldessari / Barbara Bloom, Nicolás Guagnini / John Kelsey, Harrell Fletcher / Michael Rakowitz, Maria Eichhorn / John Miller, Andrea Bowers / Catherine Opie, Amy Sillman / Gregg Bordowitz, Silvia Kolbowski / Walid Raad, Paul Chan / Martha Rosler and Liam Gillick / Lawrence Weiner.  As an exhibition, a viewer has the opportunity to look at photographs of people reading, read (both visually and textually) works on the wall, read books, read books about people trying to read each other’s ideas and perhaps watch others experience the reading, too.
