Spare Parts is the title of this show. It’s a drawing by Kay Rosen with the title “Spare Parts”. It (the show) features works by John Baldessari, Robert Barry, Bernd & Hilla Becher, Tara Donovan, Dan Flavin, On Kawara, Allan McCollum, Sol LeWitt, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Kay Rosen, Ed Ruscha & Fred Sandback. The show, as opposed to a closed system, presents in each work a degree of open-endedness. From the unfathomable amount of time before and after in the Kawara book to the endless possibilities referenced by both Flavin and the Bechers in their respective works, along with the potential identities that which McCollum’s early single Surrogate Painting stands in for, the myriad relationships suggested by Barry’s work, the mirrors of the ‘twins’ of Pistoletto and the modular cubes of LeWitt are two more, but we’ll end the text here so you can see for youselves!
