Summer Group Show

June 8, 2013 – July 26, 2013

Exhibition View

Artists, for generations, have explore surface.  Surface has been a source of exploration for artists for generations.  Theoretical arguments have been made for and against trompe l’oeil, ‘pure’ abstraction and all the areas that fall between and thus there is a wealth of baggage attached to the relationship between surface and veracity.  The artists in this exhibition engage these two interconnected subjects in a variety of ways, yet visually present a harmonious situation.

The artists range from those that the gallery has shown regularly for years to several that we will be showing for the first time (Jackie Ferrara and Ana Tiscornia).  Several works are from quite early in the artists’ careers (John Chamberlin, Jackie Ferrara and Sylvia Plimack Mangold).
